Below is a picture of some we prepared earlier. Please note that the colours we need should be black, navy, brown or dark beige. For obvious reasons light colours, that stand out, should be avoided.

Double Knit
If you are a tight knitter use
2nd size
If you are a loose knitter use 1st size
Using no. 9 needles cast on 115 (125) stitches
1st row K1 * P1 K1 repeat from * to end
2nd row P1 * K1 P1 repeat from * to end
Repeat these 2 rows until it measures 8 inches.
Shape Crown
Pattern * 8sts, knit 2 together
repeat from * to end
Pattern 1 row
Pattern * 7sts, knit 2 together repeat from * to end
Pattern 1 row
Pattern * 6 sts, Knit 2 together repeat from * to end
Pattern 1 row
Pattern * 5 sts, Knit 2 together repeat from * to end
Pattern 1 row
Pattern * 4 sts, Knit 2 together repeat from * to end
Pattern 1 row
Pattern * 3 sts, Knit 2 together repeat from * to end
Pattern 1 row
Pattern * 2 sts, Knit 2 together repeat from * to end
Pattern 1 row
*Knit 2 together repeat from * to end.
Thread wool through remaining stitches.
Sew back seam.
