Just a quick note to
thank you for
all the stuff you sent us. I am the chief cook in the kitchen at Camp
Bastion. We put the coffee sachets and other gear out for the lads they
were gone within minutes. You’ve done a hooting job
collecting
all that stuff and I thought you should know how much it was
appreciated. It’s great to know there are people like
yourself
back home who give a damn. |

I have just received
your parcel and
appreciate it very much. It will make it a lot easier knowing that
there are people like u supporting us here. God Bless U. |
|
Thank you for the card
and Christmas box. How
did you know I needed a new toothbrush?
It is warming to know people back home are thinking of us over the
festive period. |
|
I would like to thank
you on behalf
of the RM’s serving out here. Although we have taken
casualties I
feel so far our tour has been successful and the young lads are growing
up fast and gaining experience. The majority of Afghan’s are
decent people and just wanting to live a peaceful life that we take for
granted. |

I am 24 years old from
Preston Lancs.
I am currently stationed in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan in a
little backward town called Gereshk. I returned off a 2 week patrol on
Christmas eve to find your parcel on my pit (bed) and my face lit up I
was well chuffed. I managed to resist the temptation of opening it and
waited till the morning and by 6 am I was stuffing my face with all the
nutty (food) and hot wets (tea) you sent me. All of the men in my tent
each had a gift from many branches of the RMA and I can’t
thank
you enough for your generosity I really can’t. |

When I was told that Ex
Bootnecks
(Royal Marines) sent the parcels I was expecting them to be full of
sand in true Bootneck humour. Thank you very much for your parcel that
arrived in good condition (a bit of a surprise) and received with great
appreciation. Currently I am a Sgt Chef working at Cdo Logistic Regt
and for my sins I am working in the QM’s dept as the senior
catering contract monitor. “Oh what Joy” and as
ever the
chefs are doing an outstanding job within the current climate, for once
every man, dog and bearded things called WRENs are happy. Joking aside.

As I was writing the
report on this
evening’s activity for Brigade HQ I noticed the adjutant
enjoying
some nuts. After getting him to share his nuts I saw where he got them
from. He reached into a “box of delights” that was
placed
in the ops room. You will be unsurprised to hear this was one of the
boxes you so kindly sent forward. I have taken the time to ensure that
most boxes have been sent forward to the outstations where the lads
will, I know, take great pleasure in the luxuries they contain.
However, even the Headquarters need some Morale sometimes. Personally I
have enjoyed a small packet of cashew nuts and the QM is grinning like
a Cheshire cat at the thought of real marmalade on his toast in the
morning. |

On behalf of Pet Troop
in Camp
Bastion I would like to thank you for the lovely Christmas presents. It
is good to know that someone back home is thinking about us here in the
desert and that has boosted the morale of the lads. |

Sorry if my writing and
spelling are
bad but I do try. It is good to know that the British public are behind
us which is something that has previously concerned me. |
